A World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and Golf Australia (GA) Event
Held: November 8th & 9th
Format: 54 Holes Strokeplay – 36 holes Nov 8th & 18 holes Nov 9th.
First played in 1971, the Sydney Amateur International has a proud history, with champions representing many of the major metropolitan golf clubs over the years.
This year’s event crowned Coby Carruthers and Rachel Lee as the 2025 Sydney Amateur International champions.
Men’s Champion – Coby Carruthers (Concord Golf Club)
Coby Carruthers became the first male from Concord Golf Club to win the event. He shot rounds of 69, 61, and 68 to finish the 54-hole tournament on 198, an impressive 12-under-par and 11 shots clear of runner-up Blake Phillips, also from Concord Golf Club, who finished with a 209.
Coby’s second-round 61, achieved in challenging weather conditions, set a new course record, breaking the previous record of 62 set by Alexander McCoy in 2013 during the same event.
Women’s Champion – Rachel Lee (Avondale Golf Club)
Rachel Lee became the first female from Avondale Golf Club to claim the title. She posted rounds of 74, 71, and 72 to finish on 217, one shot ahead of Camila Kim from The Australian Golf Club, who finished on 218.
Rachel’s final round included five birdies, showcasing remarkable composure as she overtook Lucie Quilliam, the seven-time Moore Park Club Champion and overnight leader, in the closing holes.
